Details: Key representatives from Ukraine, including Defence Minister Rustem Umierov and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, have arrived in Türkiye. Their presence is part of a broader initiative to coordinate with U.S. and Turkish officials as preparations for discussions with Russia get underway. During the trip, the Ukrainian team convened with high-level advisors, including U.S. President Biden's Special Envoy Keith Kellogg, UK Prime Minister's National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell, French President's Diplomatic Adviser Emmanuel Bonne, and German Chancellor's Foreign and Security Policy Adviser Günther Sautter. These meetings are designed to harmonize strategies and positions prior to the anticipated negotiations scheduled to take place in Istanbul. Quote: "Ukraine is ready for peace and for a lasting, unconditional ceasefire. We are also prepared for meetings and negotiations at the highest level. The Ukrainian delegation is in Istanbul today to achieve an unconditional ceasefire – this is our priority." Background: Previously, the Turkish state-owned news agency Anadolu released a schedule detailing the forthcoming discussions involving delegations from Ukraine, the U.S., Türkiye, and Russia in Istanbul. In a related development, Russia is sending a less senior delegation led by Vladimir Medinsky, a close aide to President Putin, to partake in the dialogues initiated by the Kremlin. Heading the Ukrainian side, Defence Minister Rustem Umierov is supported by a team of twelve individuals appointed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
