Canada's $4.3 Billion Military Aid for Ukraine Announced at G7 Summit

During the ongoing G7 summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada has unveiled a significant military assistance package for Ukraine, committing a total of $2 billion for military support and an additional $2.3 billion aimed at infrastructure reconstruction. This initiative comes in response to recent escalations in the conflict with Russia.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney emphasized the urgency of this support while addressing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating that the funding will facilitate the procurement of critical military assets, including helicopters, drones, and ammunition. In addition to this, armored vehicles are also included in the support package. Carney referred to Russia's military actions as "barbarism," condemning their recent attacks on Ukraine, which are considered among the deadliest this year.

Prime Minister Carney is set to engage in bilateral talks with leaders including Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and Indian Prime Minister Modi on the sidelines of the event.
