At the recent Diamond League meeting in Shanghai, Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchikh showcased her exceptional talent in the women's high jump, successfully clearing a height of 2.00 meters. This victory marks her tenth consecutive win on the Diamond League circuit, further cementing her status as a leading athlete in her sport. During the event, Mahuchikh, 23, secured first place, outshining Australia's Nicola Olyslagers, who finished second with a jump of 1.98 meters. Eleanor Patterson, another Australian competitor, took third place after clearing 1.95 meters. Yuliia Levchenko, also from Ukraine, achieved a commendable fourth position with a height of 1.92 meters. This recent victory adds to Mahuchikh's impressive record, bringing her total number of wins in the Diamond League to 21. Her last defeat in this series occurred in Monaco back in July 2023, where she placed third. Levchenko started strong, clearing all heights up to 1.92 meters on her first attempts. In contrast, Mahuchikh began her competition at that height. In the lead-up to the key heights, both Mahuchikh and Olyslagers successfully cleared 1.98 meters, after which the bar was raised to 2.00 meters. Mahuchikh cleared this height on her first attempt, while Olyslagers was unable to do so after three tries. The Shanghai meet followed Mahuchikh's victory at the season opener held in Xiamen, China, where she also triumphed and Levchenko achieved her personal best for the season at 1.91 meters. Mahuchikh, hailing from Dnipro, holds the world record for the women's high jump at 2.10 meters. Additionally, she was crowned world champion in this event in August 2023.
